I have dreamt someone would realize a device like the zeo for years. Now I researched this website a little more, I am heavily dissapointed. Behind all this corporate-speak, what zeo really wants is NOT to make a profit from selling their hardware, which would be absolutely legitimate, but they want to make a profit from selling the sleep data. The company, zeo, is not honest and 100% upfront about this and tries to hide behind a typical wall of incomprehensible corprate speak (being true to our shareholders bla bla). Yes, I would like to buy a device like the zeo because I have problems with my sleep, But I would never give you the data. Why can't I just access the data in a plain, vanilla ASCII file and import it into Excel or R, OF COURSE NOT BY GIVING IT TO YOU FIRST BY MEANS OF UPLOADING? Oh great there is a java library which apparently makes it possible that I program such an application myself, which should be included in the with the product. "Private does not mean me and you, it just means me." - I really like that quote. I really like the idea of zeo, but I also HATE that companies nowadays not just want the consumers money (which is absolutely okay), but they want the consumers data without paying for it - anonymized or not, why should I, the consumer, give you my data for free so that you can make a profit from it?

All,
Many people on this comment thread (and elsewhere) have requested an open version of the SD Card with unencrypted data.

We just released a Data Decoder Library that opens up the data on the SD card (sorry it has taken so long!). This library is for developers (ie. it doesn’t have a pretty UI) and gives unrestricted access to your data without uploading to mySleep.myZeo.com.

We are listening, we are learning, and we are making changes! It’s you data and you can do what you like with it.

You can check out the release and download it here:
http://developers.myzeo.com/data-decoder-library/

I blogged on the topic here as well:
http://blog.myzeo.com/accouncing-the-zeo-data-decoder-library/

And feel free to discuss the library in our forum here:

Private does not mean me and you, it just means me. I purchase the Zeo machine to use; I did not trade my privacy for it. If I did, the machine would have been fee and I would have been part of a reimbursed national study.

My second issue is that I can't keep the headband on more than 3 nights in a row. If I tighten it up more than I have been I get a headache! ZEO needs to improve the design. Right now I'm using the pod as a high priced alarm clock!

Two issues.!) A number of people in this world do not have a broadband connection and need a PC based download and analysis capability (excel is adequate). I was using your web based system, went on a 2 month vacation where I did not have broadband. Consequently I lost 2 months of data and I am reluctant to restart.
