How can I track polyphasic sleep using myZeo?

by Ryan@Zeo on May 25, 2011

Q: I’m planning to use Zeo to track my polyphasic naps in my quest for a more efficient sleep. How can I do this?

A: Polyphasic sleeping is the practice of sleeping in several long naps throughout the 24 hour day, rather than laying down for 6-8 hours all at once.  While it’s currently not possible to reflect your polyphasic sleeping with the myZeo online due to limitations of the website’s software, you CAN successfully track and display polyphasic naps using the Zeo Decoder Viewer.

This means that any nap OVER 10 minutes long will be tracked, allowing you to see your sleep totals for all the usuals (Deep, Light, REM, awakenings, etc.) when you are following a polyphasic lifestyle.

A word to the wise: don’t forget to update your sleep journal, in particular your morning feel, as this will give you good data if polyphasic sleeping helps or if it’s just leading to increased grumpiness at the expense of more time!
